IBEW 569 Endorses Katie Porter for U.S. Senate
San Diego—IBEW Local 569 today announced its endorsement of Katie Porter for U.S. Senate.
“Katie Porter is a champion for workers,” said Jeremy Abrams, Business Manager of IBEW 569. “She’s fearless in the face of corporate abuse, consistently standing up for working families and their needs. IBEW Local 569 is confident she will be the strongest advocate for workers and our communities as we move toward a clean energy future, push for more investments in mass transit, and combat the climate crisis. We’re proud to endorse Katie as the warrior California needs in the U.S. Senate to fight the battles of tomorrow.”
During her time in Congress, Porter has repeatedly demonstrated her commitment to working people and unions. Her votes for the American Rescue Plan Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act delivered billions of dollars to support good union jobs, including historic investments in union apprenticeship programs and union-built infrastructure projects. She has been a champion for the Protection the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, as well as a consistent voice in committee and on the House floor for holding corporations accountable and supporting working people’s rights on the job.
Accepting the endorsement, Rep. Porter said, “Workers are the backbone of our economy. IBEW Local 569 has made an undeniable mark on San Diego and Imperial Counties, building the San Diego skyline and executing countless local projects that are driving our state’s economy forward. Like all California workers, IBEW 569 deserves a warrior in Washington who will put their needs before the wants of greedy corporations. I’m excited to continue my work standing up for workers in the U.S. Senate.”
