Congratulations to the graduates of our new Solar Start boot camp training program! All of them are now employed and going to work for our union contractors on Monday with Baker!
These graduates received a free two-week intensive training from our IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center. They are now equipped with hands-on education and experience to excel in the solar industry. The trainees learned best practices for solar installation, electrical theory, and worksite safety. Our Solar Start graduates (which included 3 veterans) are quality, diverse, and ready to work.
Each Solar Start graduate will earn $11.60 an hour plus healthcare and retirement contributions. After six months of additional training, these IBEW 569 members will earn $14 an hour. If you are interested in joining our next Solar Start Boot Camp, please come to our IBEW 569 Union Hall (4545 Viewridge Avenue) and ‘sign our CW1 book.’ This opportunity could lead to a life-long career with better pay and benefits with our electrical and systems-integration apprenticeship programs.
Much thanks to Baker Electric and Milwaukee Tools for donating materials, tools, and expertise to ensure that our graduates are on the right path to a great career in solar!
