Political Action

Volunteer

Political volunteering is one of the most important things you can do as a union member. Having elected officials in office who share our values is critical to creating union jobs and improving the lives of all working people.

Vote for Endorsed Candidates

Voting for union-endorsed candidates is vital to building the labor movement’s political power. Before earning an IBEW Local 569 endorsement, we ask candidates tough questions about where they stand on issues like project labor agreements and workers issues and we hold them accountable for their actions after they are elected. We also weigh in on ballot measures and legislative actions affecting working people.

Donate

Our greatest asset in the political process is our activism, however financial donations are also necessary to help elect candidates who share our values. Even local school board candidates need tens of thousands of dollars to win elections against opponents whose corporate backers have unlimited financial resources. We will never match corporate donors dollar for dollar, but in combination with our strong record of volunteering and voting for union endorsed candidates, our COPE funds help us support our IBEW Local 569 endorsed candidates.

For more information about these events please visit our events calendar or contact the Union Hall at 858-569-8900.
