We mourn the passing of Brother Romley Krueger, Retired Journeyman Inside Wireman, who passed on April 24th. He was 79 years old, and had been a member of Local 569 and the IBEW for over 54 years.
Brother Krueger became a member of Local 11 in November 1963. By September 1967, he found his way to San Diego, and work was plentiful. For the next four years, he’d work for Arrow Electric, Sherwin, Owl (ancestor to Owl Dyna, which then became Dyna), Foshay Electric, La Mesa Electric, and Baker Electricians (70’s name). By the time he was dispatched to S.D.G.&E. in late 1971, he knew he wanted to make his “move” to Local 569. Our membership received his Traveler Card on November 26, 1971, and Romley “never looked back”. During the next 23 years of his career, Romley lent his experience and expertise to several shops: Johnson Service & Controls ( 2 dispatches), E. J. Evans, Stringer Electric, Interstate, Newbery, and Bechtel (11 dispatches over 18 years!). We’re sure he knew San Onofre’s layout like the “back of his hand”. Romley retired (while working for Bechtel) in July 1993.
Even though he had ongoing health concerns, one would never know, by his upbeat demeanor and quick smile. Upon meeting him, one would immediately feel at ease. Romley will certainly be missed.
Services will be held on Friday, July 6th, at the Miramar National Cemetery. Service will begin at 2:30 PM, which means that those attending should arrive at 2 PM, in order to be “in line” by 2:15 PM.
