We mourn the loss of retired Brother John Troseth, Journeyman Inside Wireman, who was 76 years old, and had been a Local 569 member for over 55 years.
Brother Troseth was a San Diego native. He graduated from Grossmont High, and then

attended Grossmont College. By early 1969, John began his apprenticeship with Bowman. He would continue his apprentice training and gain experience by working, successively, for Becker Electric, (then Union) Bergelectric, Foshay Electric (2 dispatches), Enlow, and La Mesa Electric. Not only did John graduate (May 1974) to Journeyman level, while working for La Mesa Electric; he would soon be dispatched to La Mesa Electric as a journeyman. The next 2 years would find John working at Owl Electric, then Lord Electric, and then Amelco. By 1976, Bechtel was going ‘full speed ahead” at San Onofre.
Over the next 8 years, John took 9 successive dispatches, from Units 2 & 3, to Unit 1, and back again. Since John was an excellent welder, Bechtel would utilize John’s talents as both electrician and welder, throughout his time at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). After San Onofre was up and running, John turned his talents to other shops; Baker (3 dispatches), Corbin-Dykes, Saturn (2 dispatches), EBASCO, Neal Electric, Steiny & Co. (2 dispatches), and Morrow-Meadows. John’s last dispatch (before retiring) was to Baker Electric, as a foreman for a project that lasted for over 2 years. He retired from the trade in mid-2011.
For many years, Local 569 retirees were treated with extra special lunch items at our annual picnics, courtesy of John and his, wife, Mary. Our retired members appreciated the special care that John and Mary exhibited at the “Retirees Corner” of the Santee Lakes Park.
When not involved with Union activities, one could find John and Mary at “the river”, a favorite recreational vacation spot. John will be remembered for his easy-going smile and demeanor. We will miss him.
