Rest in Power Brother David Quintero

We mourn the passing of Brother David Quintero,  Journeyman Inside Wireman & Substation Technician, who passed on January 31, 2025. He was 51 years old, and had been a 569 Union member for over 10 years.  David started his electrical career in 2006, when he began his apprenticeship. He later became organized into Local 569 in 2014.  David worked in many capacities during his IBEW career, such as Inside Journeyman Wireman, Foreman,  General Foreman, Substation Technician, and Steward.  He held state licenses in California, Washington, Idaho, and Utah.

David was highly respected and revered among his fellow IBEW Brothers and Sisters. In 2015, he worked as a Journeyman Inside Wireman for Morrow Meadows, and helped build the Kaiser Central Hospital near the 569 Hall. David would “travel” north to the Bay Area in 2017, and worked with Balfour Beatty on the PCEP Project, out of Local 617.   He also worked out of Local 332 for several contractors, the last of which was Elcor Electric.  In 2022, he was hired as a JIW with Spectra Industrial Services at a project in Carlsbad, CA. Shortly after he began, he was promoted to General Foreman, where he was responsible for a crew during the night shift.

David also worked as a Substation Technician out of Local 47, from 2023 – 2025, with companies Dacon and Hot Line. The Dacon Project was at a refinery in Carson, CA, where he also became the Union Steward for this same job.  David’s last project was the SDGE Mission Controls in San Diego, with Hotline Electric.  This project was a new GIS (gas insulated switchgear) building. Being the genuine and friendly person that he was, he easily made connections with the people around him, just as he did everywhere else that he worked.

David made sure to attend Union General Membership Meetings and stayed actively involved.  Those who worked with him knew that David was a proud unionist.  He walked the walk, the Union way.  He will always be remembered as being a true brother’s keeper.  He believed in never looking down on a Union brother or sister, unless he was helping them up.  David will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
