Downtown San Diego’s C Street has come a long way from its heyday in the 1950s as a bustling pedestrian street. At the crux of the issue is the old California Theater – a deteriorating, dangerous building on the corner of 4th Avenue and C Street where drugs, crime and danger abound. City officials have deemed the building structurally unsafe and dangerous for local residents, workers and visitors. An answer to this blighted sight is The Overture.
The Overture will be a new 40-story mixed-use building that will offer retail stores, bars and restaurants, and 282 modern urban living spaces, including 20 affordable mixed income units. The new structure will also be environmentally responsible and will be slated for LEED certification. And the best part – this project will be built with Union labor = more jobs for IBEW 569 members!
