IBEW 569 Endorsements for November 6th Election!

Attention IBEW 569 Members:

Now is the time to make a Plan to Vote and help secure more work for IBEW 569 members!

Please find below our IBEW 569 Endorsements for the November 6th General Election! We arrived at these endorsements through a rigorous and democratic process whereby IBEW 569 joined other unions of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council and our Building Trades Councils to interview and research candidates for the Election and to find out where they stood on issues important to our union, our communities, and our working families.

The upcoming election on November 6th is shaping up to be an extremely tight race, and there’s no doubt that every single vote will matter. This election will determine the fate of our jobs, our benefits, our retirement and even our union. We have the following priority races:

  • Vote YES on Measures DD, YY, and VV: Nearly $4 Billion of PLA Construction School Bonds = Union Jobs!

  • Vote No on Prop 6 to preserve funding for mass transit and transportation infrastructure!

  • Vote for these Priority Candidates: Dr. Jen Campbell for San Diego City Council, Nathan Fletcher for San Diego County Supervisor, Alejandra Sotelo-Solis for National City Mayor; Tasha Boerner-Horvath for Assembly 76; Cori Schumacher for Carlsbad Mayor; and Jill Galvez and Mark Bartlett Chula Vista City Council, Linda Cartwright for Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College (where we have a PLA!), and John Renison for Imperial County Supervisor!

We need to win these priority campaigns and initiatives in order to secure more work for IBEW 569 members. We can only do that if you are registered to vote cast your ballot! With this election, now is the time to:

Register to Vote. You can register online at: http://registertovote.ca.gov/.  To register online, you will need: Your California driver’s license or California identification card number; the last four digits of your social security number and your date of birth. The voter registration deadline is October 22nd! Encourage your family and friends to register to vote!

Find Your Polling Place. If you plan to vote in-person on Election Day but aren’t sure where to go, you can look up your polling place and view your personal ballot at: https://votersedge.org/ca.

View IBEW’s Endorsements: Now you can find our endorsements by searching for your local union, county, or zip code. Visit www.ibewvotes.com to find out who the IBEW is backing and why.

If you have questions about elections or your voter registration status, please contact our IBEW 569 Political Director, Gretchen Newsom at 858-569-8900 or gnewsom@ibew569.org. Thank you for continuing to strengthen our Union!
