We mourn the passing of Retired Journeyman Inside Wireman Bryce Barlow, on October 7, 2024. He was 71 yrs old, and had been a Local 569 member for 47 years. Bryce was a San Diego native, and was just 24 yrs old, when he was first dispatched to Cypress Electric, in January 1977.
During his apprenticeship years, he would be trained by Bell Electric, Bechtel, and Rene Electric. After graduating to Journeyman Wireman, Bryce would continue to hone his craft at Goodwin, Southland, Edlen, Sunburst, Kiewit, and Neal Electric. The majority of his career was spent at Southland Electric, having worked there for 19 years! In fact, he was dispatched as a Foreman to Sunburst, and then Kiewit, successively. Bryce would then be dispatched as a Foreman to Neal Electric, in early 2007, and stayed for the majority of that year. He opted for early retirement in early 2008.
The Union tradition runs deep in the Barlow family, with these Local 569 members, both past and present: Robert Barlow (Bryce’s dad), Norman Barlow (Bryce’s brother), Bruce Barlow (Uncle), Tim Barlow (Cousin), Guy Barlow (Cousin).
Bryce will be greatly missed by his friends and family. There will be a private scattering of his ashes at sea, as he wished.
