IBEW 569 Brothers and Sisters – here is a new video message with some additional important updates for our members and union.

For some people 2021 can’t be over soon enough but for IBEW 569 and our team, we worked hard and achieved several wins that will create more work for our members and strengthen our union.

First, IBEW 569 surged past our membership record, and for the first time ever – we worked more than 5 million hours in 2021!

Next, IBEW 569 organized and signed 14 new Contractors in 2021 – two in the last week alone – which is a great way to end the New Year, because this creates more places for our members to go to work.

Third, we broke our Apprenticeship record – this year alone we have admitted 195 new apprentices into the program for a grand total of 556 apprentices being trained in both the electrical and low voltage programs – the most apprentices we’ve ever had.

And finally – in 2021, we had the biggest of wins for PLAs (Project Labor Agreements) and strengthening the pipeline of work for decades to come!

Seven years in the making –  the $160 billion SANDAG Regional Transportation Plan now has a PLA…. the second largest agreement in the nation!

Our SANDAG Community Benefits Agreement AKA PLA will transform careers and change lives with quality construction careers and more apprenticeship opportunities.

We also signed and secured our first ever PLA on an affordable housing project and added the Airport Administration building to our growing list of labor agreements.

We’re looking forward to 2022 – our amount of work coming up that is breaking ground or under construction is strong.

  • We’ve got the $3.4 Billion Terminal 1 Airport Expansion and the $100 million Airport Administration Building
  • The $3 Billion San Diego Pure Water project continues – with many phases in the pipeline.
  • And the Kaiser Hospital in San Marcos has another year of work.

We’re going into the New Year strong, and we will continue to work on how to further strengthen our union, grow membership, and grow our work outlook.  We welcome your suggestions.

Our first Union Meeting of the Year will occur on Wednesday, January 12thclick here to RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/613370566540396.

Until then, we at IBEW 569 are wishing you and your family a happy and prosperous New Year.

Please continue to stay safe and thank you for everything you do.

In solidarity,

Jeremy Abrams
