We mourn the passing of Retired Journeyman Inside Wireman William M. Eisenbarth (October 13th), who was 78 years old, and had been a Local 569 member for over 53 years.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, “Bill” found his way to San Diego, applied to, and was accepted into Local 569’s Joint Apprenticeship Training Program, before he turned 24. During those days, it was common for apprentices to complete their first semester, before they were allowed to become full-fledged Local 569 members, as did Bill, right before he entered his second semester. During his apprenticeship, he learned his craft at: Chula Vista Electric, Agnew, Fischbach & Moore, Associated, American, Staniforth, and Johnson Services. Bill graduated to Journeyman on May 1, 1969.
Over the next thirty years, he would work at such shops as: American, Sherwin, Hardelco, Oliver Electric, Owl (then Owl/Myers – for close to 11 years), Vanderlinden, Rand E, Southland (over 2 years), Robinson (1½ years), Amelco (close to 2 years), Dynalectric (3 dispatches), So. Cal. (3½ years), and Adams Electric. He was an instructor at our (then) JATC, from 1996 – 1998. Brother Eisenbarth’s leadership abilities were also recognized, as he was “tapped” to be hired as a Foreman, first for Fleet Electric, and then for Hedges, where he would complete his electrical career. Over the years, Bill enjoyed coming into the Hall to pay his dues and take care of business, as we, the staff, enjoyed helping him. He always had an upbeat attitude, and we will miss him.
The family is planning to have a Celebration of Life on November 30th at 11 am (Rosary at 10:30 am) at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 13208 Lakeshore Drive, Lakeside, CA 92040. Ph. Number: (619) 443-1412.
