Passing of Brother Thomas Boulter

We mourn the passing of Retired Journeyman Inside Wireman Thomas (Tom) Boulter, who was 78 years old, and had been a member of Local 569 for over 52 years. Tom was definitely a “local” boy, having attended Franklin Elementary, and Hoover High. When Tom began his apprenticeship with this Local in 1962, the classes were held at San Diego City College. During his apprenticeship, he worked at Capitol Electric, Bell Electric, and Foshay Electric. Tom graduated as a Journeyman Wireman in December 1967. Throughout his career, Tom would work at Oliver Electric, Bechtel Unit 1 (and eventually at the other Units in the 80s), S.D.G.&E., Amelco, Morrow-Meadows, (then Union) Bergelectric, Chula Vista Electric, Cadri, and Domar. He was also dispatched as a Foreman to Cupertino, and later as a Foreman to Sasco in the 90s.

Tom found the time to serve Local 569, first serving as one of seven IBEW delegates to the Central Labor Council (early 80s), then he served on the Health & Welfare Trust Board 1983 – 1986, then as a Telesis Committee member in 1987, and then on the Election Review Committee in 1995 Local 569 elections. Brother Boulter took early retirement in 2000. Even in retirement (while at our previous location on West Washington Street), Brother Boulter decided to donate his time, by making name plates (of those members who had either retired or passed) that our Hall displayed. Brother Boulter was the epitome of a very capable, knowledgeable, and loyal Union member, and we shall miss him.
