IBEW 569 Brothers, Sisters, Supporters, and Signatory Contractors:
We share news that the United Nurses Association of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) and United Steel Workers (USW), Unions within the Alliance of Health Care Unions have communicated an intent to begin a strike at 7:00 AM on Monday, November 15th at selected Kaiser Permanente facilities, including Kaiser San Marcos.
Approximately 32,000 health care workers in the Alliance of Health Care Unions will walk out together on November 15th.
Both sides of their negotiation teams have come back to the table and everyone is hopeful that they will be able to reach an agreement that will benefit hard-working healthcare professionals that have endured so much during this difficult time.
We are being told that all operations, including the emergency department and urgent care facilities will be open. While our members should not sacrifice themselves or their family members in the event of an emergency, IBEW 569 requests our members and contractors to respect our fellow Union sisters and brothers in the event of a strike.
In solidarity and with union strength, please consider their fight for better wages and working conditions. We ask that none of our members or their families cross a picket line at any of the Kaiser facilities. Please do what you can to reschedule appointments or elective procedures until this has all settled.
