Labor’s John S. Lyons Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program

Amount: (1) four-year college scholarship for a maximum amount of $5,500. The first year award is $2,500 for the school year beginning September 2023, with continued scholarship assistance in the amount of $1,000 each following year, for a maximum of three additional years if the student continues to meet scholarship standards. (2) one-time scholarship up to $2,500. Eligible expenses include: tuition, books, and housing. The scholarship can be used for school-related expenses at an accredited post high school trade or technical school, community college, or four-year university/college.

Requirements: An applicant must be a high school senior enrolled in, or a college student having graduated from, a San Diego or Imperial County school system, whose parents or legal guardian is a member in good standing of any local labor union in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Students must have a 3.0 or better GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and participate in community and/or extracurricular school activities.

Deadline: Postmarked or hand delivered no later than May 1, 2023
