GREAT NEWS! Tonight, the Board of Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College voted unanimously to add two more big construction projects to our PLA, also known as a Community Benefits Agreement. Through this Local Hire measure, Building Trades members, especially those living in East County, can look forward to building:
- Grossmont College Science, Math & Career Tech Complex B36, Including Veteran’s Center – Phase 2
- Cuyamaca College Student Services Building
IBEW 569 Member Jennifer Wilson testified:
“My name is Jennifer Wilson, and I am a veteran and long standing local resident of our Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College District.
I would like to thank the Board for supporting local hire agreements with strong community benefits, like career opportunities for veterans like myself. Thank you for adding two additional construction projects to the Community Benefit Agreement and thank you for putting more local residents to work – this is particularly important given our high unemployment due to the pandemic.
I urge your support of Agenda Item 11.1 and the continuation of the Community Benefits Agreement with the San Diego County Building Trades Council.”
We extend our gratitude and appreciation for the Board continuing to invest taxpayer dollars into policies that create good-paying local jobs and career apprenticeship opportunities.
