The San Diego Electrical JATC Jurisdiction:

The San Diego Electrical JATC jurisdiction is comprised of two California counties: San Diego and Imperial.

The San Diego Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee: 

The San Diego Electrical JATC is dedicated to advancing the Unionized Electrical Industry by training a skilled workforce through apprenticeship and advanced journeyman training courses through on-the-job and classroom related training. These are common goals of IBEW Local 569 and the San Diego Chapter of the NECA.

There are currently two apprenticeship programs actively operating in San Diego and Imperial Counties; Inside Wireman, a five-year program; Sound, a four-year program (San Diego only). All apprentice courses are college credited through Palomar College. In addition to the above apprenticeship programs, there are also journeyman training and Electrical Trainee (Construction Wireman) classes taught at San Diego and Imperial Counties Electrical Training Institute (ETI).

The Board of Trustees delegated the operation of the facilities to the JATC. The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for being the representative and liaison to the public for ETI. The San Diego Electrical Training Institute is a 32,000 square foot facility that houses our apprenticeship programs. ETI is managed by a Training Director. The Outreach Coordinator reports directly to the Training Director and Assistant Training Director.

The Position: Under the direction of the Training Director/CFO, the Outreach Coordinator shall lead the San Diego Electrical Training Trust’s (“SDETT”) efforts to broaden participation through outreach to employers and apprentices, deepen the engagement of current employers and apprentices through education and outreach, promote the SDETT to the public through presentations, press materials, social media, internet content and support the plans and work of SDETT management as needed in other areas. The Outreach Coordinator shall, at all times, provide a positive image to students and all other members of the Industry and to the community at large. The Outreach Coordinator shall be a role model to students by exemplifying the best practices in the industry.

The Candidate: Above average faculty with computer, network and software applications (Office suites, Adobe, etc.). Excellent written and oral communication skills. Read and understand complex documents. Ability to multitask and oversee multiple projects. Self-directed and also able to maintain a collaborative working relationship with staff and industry personnel. Capable to deliver presentations to large and small audiences. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to track and report performance data to be delivered to management.

Compensation: The salary is dependent on the credentials and proven abilities of the selected candidate. The JATC will also provide a full complement of fringe benefits.

Selection Process: The selection process will consist of an evaluation conducted by the Board of Directors and the Training Director; followed by an in-person interview. The Board of Directors will evaluate the candidates’ qualifications, professional accomplishments, goals, leadership abilities, compatibility and overall likelihood of success in this position. This position serves a one-year probationary period.
